Seemingly the concept of Baqalas in Kuwait is evolving, the old-school small old Baqalas are being replaced with new fancy ones that are opening everywhere in Kuwait. Some of these New Age baqalas are Dukkan and Baqala (yes its name is Baqala as in Baqala). What I like about these new Baqalas is that they provide more stuff and they have more diversity when it comes to shopping for grocery, they also have several branches over Kuwait, but on the other hand I guess they are more expensive than traditional Baqalas.

So do you prefer old Baqalas or new ones?

I do not prefer them over the old ones, not just due to their price markups, but just in general, who cares if I got general things from an old or a modern baqala?

They aren’t trying to replace the old Baqalas I think, they are only like smaler general stores for those who can’t be bothered to go to the supermarket all the time for little things that can’t be found in a normal baqaala. And that too differs from area to area

That guy eventually ran out of ideas to open this.
Current bakalas service are really fast, you pick up chips show him from far, toss 50 fils. 13 sec job done… Sometime I pay half and balance later…
In these modern, hit counter, receipt and payment ! Time matters in this kind of business rather than design…

@AJ Dude the title made me chuckle cause for a moment there I had the thought these new Baqala will have some Enya music playing in the background 24/7. LOOL XD

I actually like them and their prices are the same except if you’re buying stuff like London Chocolate for example it will be a bit pricy.

I just wish there was a legit 7/11 mini mart. OH how I dearly miss those stores.

Not to mention that it’s a part of the New World Order. Big-Time Corporations are replacing our Tradional privatly owned shops forming bigger profits for a smaller group of people.
